The following information outlines the role of a DSM and how it may benefit your child\u2019s transition.<\/p>\n<table width=\"661\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"661\">\n<h3>What does a Defence School Mentor do?<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"661\">Defence School Mentors (DSM) work to minimise the impact of mobility on education and build the capability of the school in supporting Defence Students and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Mentors are based within eligible primary and secondary schools, for the purpose of providing support to the children of Defence families through on-site, direct and flexible assistance to students, parents, teachers and other support services.<\/p>\n<p>This may look like:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assisting new students to integrate into the school and local community<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Monitoring and developing the social and emotional well-being of Defence students<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Providing support to Defence students during times of parental absence<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Referring Defence students to services or school programs that meet their needs<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table width=\"661\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"661\">\n<h3>\u00a0Programs and activities at Rockingham Beach Primary Campus<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"661\"><strong>Breakfast Club<\/strong>: Wednesday &amp; Thursday 8:00am\u20138:15am<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lunchtime activities<\/strong>:\u00a0 \u00a0Wednesdays &#8211; Lego Club \u2013 Thursdays &#8211; Defence Crew<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group Sessions<\/strong>: Building peer connections and resilience by facilitating Classroom and\/or Year group breakouts in consultation with the classroom teachers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Individual Support<\/strong>: 1:1 conversations and connection by referral from Teacher with particular attention to parental absence, peer connection or preparation for transitioning to and from school.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table width=\"661\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"661\">\n<h3>Referrals and Support<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"661\">Parents are always welcome to come and have a chat, feel free to seek me out or contact me.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to refer your child for specific Defence support,<br \/>\nplease let your child\u2019s classroom teacher know and they will arrange a formal 1:1 referral.<\/p>\n<p>RBPS asks you to bear in mind with our large Defence Community, wait times may apply.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Our Defence School Mentor (DSM) can assist with your child\u2019s transition to Rockingham Beach Primary Campus, making it as smooth as possible.
