{"id":478,"date":"2017-02-02T10:01:24","date_gmt":"2017-02-02T02:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rockinghambeachprimarycampus.wa.edu.au\/primary\/?page_id=478"},"modified":"2017-02-02T10:01:24","modified_gmt":"2017-02-02T02:01:24","slug":"early-childhood","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rockinghambeachprimarycampus.wa.edu.au\/primary\/curriculum\/early-childhood\/","title":{"rendered":"Early Childhood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our Early Childhood program is embedded in the belief that all students will be part of a school that offers a student-centred education, focused on the present and developmental needs of the children.<\/p>\n<p>Our teachers draw on a rich repertoire of practices to promote children\u2019s learning by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>being responsive to children<\/li>\n<li>planning and implementing learning through play<\/li>\n<li>intentional teaching<\/li>\n<li>ensuring children have every opportunity to learn through engaging activities, hands-on experiences and in environments where they are required to make decisions and stretch the boundaries of their learning<\/li>\n<li>routinely engage children in the kind of conversations that will extend their thinking<\/li>\n<li>focusing as much on the process of children\u2019s learning, the thinking dispositions we want them to develop, as on the content of lessons and activities<\/li>\n<li>using a range of group and individual activities.<\/li>\n<li>creating physical and social learning environments that have a positive impact on children\u2019s learning<\/li>\n<li>valuing the cultural and social contexts of children and their families<\/li>\n<li>assessing and monitoring children\u2019s learning to support children in achieving learning outcomes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The\u00a0<i>Early Years Learning Framework<\/i>\u00a0and the General Capabilities of\u00a0<i>Literacy, Numeracy and Personal &amp; Social Competence<\/i>\u00a0of the Australian Curriculum guide curriculum in the kindergarten year.
