Our Defence School Mentor (DSM) is Amanda Dabala. Her role within the school is to assist with your child’s transition to Rockingham Beach Primary Campus, making it as smooth as possible. Amanda is available 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
As DSM, she can assist with any concerns you may have about your child’s/children’s educational, emotional or social needs. The following information outlines the role of a DSM and how it may benefit your child’s transition. Please read it carefully and if she can assist in any way, she will be more than happy to do so.
What does a Defence School Mentor do?
|Defence School Mentors (DSM) work to minimise the impact of mobility on education and build the capability of the school in supporting Defence Students and their families.
Mentors are based within eligible primary and secondary schools, for the purpose of providing support to the children of Defence families through on-site, direct and flexible assistance to students, parents, teachers and other support services.
This may look like:
· Assisting new students to integrate into the school and local community
· Monitoring and developing the social and emotional well-being of Defence students
· Providing support to Defence students during times of parental absence
· Referring Defence students to services or school programs that meet their needs
